Further to our previous post about walking the Light to Light Walk during the coming summer holiday period, we can confirm that there are few – or no – campsites available in either Saltwater Creek or Bittangabee campground in Ben Boyd National Park throughout January 2019.
We’ve fielded a number of enquiries from people planning to walk the Light to Light Walk during their annual holidays but the sad fact is, there is just no room left for you to camp.
So what are the options?
- You can walk the entire Light to Light Walk in one day. That’s 31km so you’ll need to be relatively fit, have well-worn and comfortable shoes and carry plenty of water. It will take the average walker around 12-14 hours so that means you’ll need to be on the track by about 6am, especially if you want to stop along the way to take in the incredible scenery.
- You can walk it in sections and organise a Transfer from the end point back to some accommodation. Choices are: camp at Kiah Wilderness Camps (subject to availability but this is also fairly heavily booked) or at a campground closer to Eden. Contact the Eden Visitor Information Centre to check options.
- Just put it off till later in the year. The benefits are: less people, better walking weather, more campsite options along the track, quieter campsites and a more rewarding experience.
