Wilderness, comfortably.

The iconic 3-day Light to Light Walk follows some of southeast Australia’s most spectacular coastline.

Located in Ben Boyd National Park in Australia’s Coastal Wilderness region, the 31-kilometre track passes rock dating back over 400 million years, a marine environment with incomparable diversity, coastal heath and forests of Banksia and Ti-tree.

Ancient Aboriginal shell middens on the shores showcase a resource-rich ocean. The stories of an incredible and long-lasting relationship between whalers and Killer Whales adds to the mystery and wonder of this place.

This place is very special. Explore it at your own pace without the burden of tents, food and water, and be spoiled at the end of the day with delicious dinners, a hot shower and luxurious camp beds, sleeping bags, sheets and towels.

We’ve got you covered.

Walk the wilderness coast with the support of Light to Light Camps.

Boyds Tower Track - Boyds Tower Track, Edrom NSW 2551, Australia

Day #1: 13.7km. Meet at 7:30am

Most people choose to drive to our place at Kiah - 11.67km south of Eden on the way to the National Park. We can pick you up from Eden if pre-arranged.  We’ll then drive you to the start of the walk at Boyd's Tower, in the southern section of Ben Boyd National Park.

At Boyd’s Tower, we'll fit your daypack for comfort and check your gear before you leave us to begin your trek.

You can take your time. Have a lunch break at Mowarry Beach - one of the most beautiful beaches you'll ever see, then continue on until you reach camp at Saltwater Creek. We’ll be there to greet you.

Then enjoy a hot shower, settle in for nibbles and a drink before dinner is served by the campfire. Finish with something sweet and tea or coffee, before you snuggle into luxurious sheets and sleeping bag for a well earned rest.

Day #2: 9.6km.

Enjoy a delicious and healthy breakfast before heading off to Bittangabee. The walk on this day is a little shorter, but you'll be blown away again by the amazing scenery. You’re encouraged to stop along the way for refreshments and to take in the stunning and peaceful surrounds - we’ll tell you about all the best spots that only the locals know! We'll meet you for lunch at beautiful Bittangabee Bay where you can explore the ruins and the beach before the transfer back to camp at Saltwater.

Day #3. 7.8km. Return 4 p.m.

After breakfast, we'll get you back to Bittangabee fairly early so you can begin the last leg of the journey - Bittangabee to Green Cape Lighthouse.

This part of the walk reveals sections of nice and shady ti-tree forest, and open heath where you may spot a kangaroo or a very rare ground parrot. Perched high on the tip of Green Cape where the Pacific meets the Southern Ocean, the 360 degree views from Green Cape lighthouse often take in seals, whales and dolphins playing off the coast.

We’ll lay out a picnic at one of the viewing spots around the cape. Afterwards, we’ll take a short walk back in time to the small graveyard where lie the 71 victims of the Ly-ee-Moon shipwreck in 1886.

We’ll transport you back to Eden (or beyond, if pre-arranged), furnished with insider recommendations on the best local restaurants and spots to enjoy a drink or a beautiful sunset in this little fishing town that is truly one of Australia’s hidden gems.

We'll see you at our place by 7:30am - unless we have pre-arranged to pick you up from your Eden accommodation at around 7am.

We'll be back to Kiah by around 4pm on Day #3. If we picked you up from your accommodation in Eden we'll take you straight there for a nice rest! (If you need to be back earlier, we can arrange that too.)

  • Walking shoes or boots – preferably worn in for comfort. Your old worn-in runners are likely to be more comfortable than a brand-new pair of walking shoes!
  • A camera, smart phone or some other device to take photos.
  • T-shirt and long-sleeved top. Go for quick-drying fabrics such as lightweight merino, which keep you cool and dry, but is also a very effective barrier against the cold.  Layers are the best.
  • Walking pants – preferably those with zip-off legs (and/or shorts). Jeans are not suitable.
  • Sunhat or cap, beanie and gloves for cool nights, walking socks, and comfy soft shoes for around the camp. These can be your ugg boots, slippers - whatever is comfortable. Remember you'll be in and out of a tent though!
  • A warm coat for cooler weather. Choose merino or polar fleece if possible.
  • Gore-Tex or similar raincoat.

Remember, you only carry a light daypack with snacks, water and bare necessities - we carry and set up all the camping gear!
